Chipmunk Plays Huge Concert At Kentish Town Forum

+ Unpublicized special guests:
Tinchy Stryder / N-Dubz / Ironic / Bashy / Jay Sean / Darren B / Boy Better Know
Hosted by Eddie Kadi

Chipmunk is possibly the most popular UK urban music act of modern times. At this special moment in his career Chipmunk plays his first ever concert, performing all of his hits alongside some very special guests, at The HMV Forum, Kentish Town. For fans that have been following Chipmunk from the beginning or for those that are curious to see what all the noise is about, this concert is the first opportunity to catch this rising star in a live concert experience.

Following the release of his mixtape ‘League of My Own’ on his label Alwayz Recordings, Mobo Award winning rapper Chipmunk featured on ‘Defeat You’ by N-Dubz and released his debut single ‘Beast’. Follow up single ‘Chip Diddy Chip’ reached #21 in The Official UK Chart, with the video featuring many artists in the video as well as Flawless dance group. The real break came when his monster track ‘Tiny Dancer’ went straight into the charts at #3. Chipmunk recently confirmed to MTV on set of his video shoot for ‘Diamond Rings’ that Alwayz have arranged his first major record deal with Sony Music after a long bidding war.

The concert is presented by Bigga Fish; one of young London’s leading promoters of cutting edge and emerging music. Nii Sackey, Bigga Fish Director: “Bigga Fish is proud once again to be at the cutting edge of youth music culture, working with Chipmunk and the range of amazing young artists has been our passion for 10 years. This event for Chipmunk and the scene is a real milestone. It will be an amazing concert that combines the production values of our highly successful events program with the flare and imagination of an artist out to show that he has really arrived.”

Iva Bittova @ Purcell Room

PART OF THE PULSE FESTIVAL OF CENTRAL & EASTERN EUROPEAN MUSIC

This date of the Pulse Festival, showcasing the best in Central and Eastern European music, features Czech violinist Iva Bittova at the Purcell Room.

Iva Bittova’s countryman Milan Kundera wrote how Europe’s ‘small nations’ form another Europe. But while the violinist-vocalist may be ‘small nation’ Czech, her musical worldview - along with her spontaneous, visionary creativity - acknowledges no borders.

“For many years, I have worked in a range of musical genres, including jazz, rock, classical and opera. Deciding on a name for my style of music is far from over yet. Whatever it is, many of my listeners have long considered it highly original. It has always been everyday life that inspired my music and interpretations. Its inspiration has been total silence and an absolutely positive atmosphere. Those are the most important conditions and surroundings in which when my ideas spring into life. I believe they have a significant impact on my music.

“The violin accompanies me all the time. Everything around me is under its influence. There are difficult pieces to practice from which I gain discipline, confidence, and self–control – and a healthy measure of doubt. The violin is a mirror reflecting my dreams and imagination. I believe there are fundamentals to my performance, such as the music’s vibration and resonance between violin and my voice. Their ‘symphony’ leads me on to perfection, even though I know it never can be attained”.

Date: Wednesday 10th June 2009
Time: 7:45pm
Location: Purcell Room, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Belvedere Road, London, SE1 8XX
